Where in the World have I Gone?
You might notice it’s been a little bit since I’ve been online… both on this website and on my social media. Well, to be honest, I needed to take a little hiatus.
Back in 2018 I was running and/or trying to start multiple online businesses, including experimenting with providing different services to my flower-loving customers here on Mike McRoberts Photography. I was trying my darndest to post daily on social media, to create regular and frequent blog posts on this website, and to make progress towards offering you services as you might recall if you’ve been here long enough.
Then… I got a job.
And as much as I love shooting macro pictures of flowers, it’s really hard to do that when you have a normal 9 to 5 with a commute. And even though y’all were encouraging on social media, I was burnt out from the online-thing.
I started taking pictures again just for me. In my spare time on the weekends, when the light was just right and the new blooms of spring were calling to me, I’d venture out to all my favorite places like the CSU Annual Flower Trial Garden and the mountains here in Colorado.
I continued to post images on Flickr over the last few years, and you can check over there if you want to see some of my recent images. But things in my photo world slowed down a good bit for a while.
So what’s changed?
Now that I’ve been at my job for a few years and am looking towards retirement, I needed something to get me excited about the future. What was something that I really enjoyed doing that would serve me well in my life ahead? I always returned to photography.
I’ve had the joy over the last few years of printing some of my images to hang in my home. It’s brought me immense joy to see my art blown up large-scale in the rooms my family shares every day. It inspired me to begin sharing those images again with you… the people who have stuck around and showed a real interest in my work.
That’s all to say – I’m back. Thanks for waiting for me. I’m excited for this new chapter in Mike McRoberts Photography, and I hope you are too.
This image was captured on a recent family trip to Breckenridge, Colorado to capture the fall foliage. I’ve still been taking photos these last few years, though fewer than I once did.
